Desde el 2015, la Fundación ha organizado Chalk Full of Fun en el Centro de Redwood City durante las festividades del 4 de julio. El Festival de Tiza de dos días atrae artistas de todas partes quienes crean obras de arte para que los visitantes del festival las puedan ver y admirar.

 

El evento ha crecido para incluir obras maestras en Courthouse Square y Chalk Alley (ubicado en Hamilton y Broadway). Además, artistas registrados (de todas las edades y habilidades) decoran cuadros de tiza y los asistentes al festival disfrutan gratuitamente del Chalk Tunnel y el Área de Chalk para divertirse espontáneamente. 

Chalk Full of Fun es GRATUITO para todos los artistas y visitantes que participan. El éxito de este evento anual se atribuye directamente al apoyo de este INCREIBLE evento y a sus patrocinadores… ¡GRACIAS!

  1. Choose your image or draw a sketch ahead of time. Make copies if more than one artist will be working on the piece.

  2. Using a ruler, create a square grid over a copy of your image, 1” x 1”. Label the columns using numbers and the rows using letters.

  3. Lay out a corresponding grid on the asphalt 1’ x 1’ adding the labels for the columns and rows.

  4. Lightly draw the outlines of your image, square by square.

  5. Once your sketch is complete you can then begin to “paint” your drawing.

  1. Start from the top of the painting area and begin painting the image with the colored chalk.

  2. Smooth the foundation of color using your fingers in small areas and the carpet blending pad or chalkboard eraser for larger areas.

  3. Fill in the details of the image using various shades of colored chalk. Continue to blend colors to gain the right effect. Leave some chalk color unblended on the surface of the concrete to bring out colors, highlights and details.

  4. Work your way down the area of your painting.

  5. Step back from your artwork every once and while to see the big picture.

  6. Do not blow or fan excess chalk into the air. It will dull your colors, and chalk dust is not good to breathe.

  7. To get intense color, apply the chalk more than once (the first time fills in cracks and crevices) and bear down hard. The second time is to let the chalk powder rest on the top of the bumps. Then don’t touch it anymore!

  8. Finish by adding highlights to your chalk art.

  9. Take lots of pictures!
