En su quinto año en 2019, Chalk Full of Fun creció a capacidad. ¡Más de 200 artistas de tiza registrados llenaron el Courthouse Square y el Chalk Alley con más de 110 increíbles obras maestras! Ahora, un favorito de la multitud en las festividades del 4 de julio, los visitantes disfrutaron viendo la obra de arte y participando en el Túnel de Chalk y el Área de Free Chalk.

Meet the 1st Cohort of Artists

Below is the first current cohort of artists to exhibit their

artwork at the CZI Community Space.

Following the art exhibition at CZI, many of the artists' artwork was on

exhibit at the Redwood City Main Library (October through December 2022), and then at the Calder Gallery, 400 County Center (January through February 2023).

Artist Winsor Kinkade

Winsor Kinkade is an artist and community mental health social worker. Viewing art as a therapeutic process that aids in healing trauma, Winsor has been working on oil paintings that feature different people's hands.

Artist Laurie Satizibal

Laurie Satizabal (aka. Laurie Marte) is a graphic designer and illustrator from Panama, living in the Bay Area since 2014. Her work revolves around everyday activities and settings in which reflections on art, culture and nature come at a crossroads. She’s inspired by bold layouts complemented by hand lettering and by organic shapes, mostly from different types of plants. To see more of her work, visit lauriemarte.com

Artist Jose Castro known as "Castro"

Jose Castro grew up in North Fair Oaks, San Mateo County. He seeks to inspire community members to embrace their roots through artwork that celebrates cultural diversity and shared history.

Artist Elizabeth Gomez

Elizabeth Gomez is a professional artist born and raised in Mexico City, residing in the Bay Area since 1991. Her artwork conveys a love of nature, and the certainty that we humans are animals and need to take care of the natural world. The animals in this show are both native to California and Baja California in Mexico.

Artist Maria Sanchez

Maria Sanchez was born in El Salvador. An artist, curator and art collector. She is based in Redwood City. She has been creating art for over 25 years and is an advocate for art as therapy. Her painting style is intuitive, primitive and contemporary. She loves folk art, vibrant color and is inspired by nature and community.

Photographer Manuel Ortiz

Manuel Ortiz is a social documentary photographer and journalist based in Redwood City. He was born in Mexico City where he had formal education in sociology, and visual arts, specializing in documentary film. He has traveled in over 20 countries for his photographic, and multimedia projects, most of them about immigration, and environment. His photography will focus on the migrant essential workers in San Mateo County who are usually invisible.

Artist Pedro Lopez

Pedro Rivas Lopez uses art as a way to speak truth to power and uplift oppressed voices to amplify social change. At the age of five, his journey as an immigrant pursuing his Dreams began. From selling oranges at street corners, to picking watermelon in the fields, Pedro worked his way to find himself writing and directing plays and creating artistic opportunities for communities across the Central Valley and the Bay Area.
